John started fishing when he was five years old and his grandfather mostly catching Blue Gills and Catfish. As he grew up, John became more interested in salt water, Snook's and Redfish. Freshwater was all about Bass, so you see where my love of fishing started.
My wife, Cathy, and I have two great dogs, Ruger and Shelby. We both get a great deal of pleasure out of them. I enjoy horseshoes, working in our yard, and a little golf now and then, but fishing is what it's all about, and living in Florida what could be better.
My competitive fishing has been a trip of highs and lows, just as the sport itself. Some days you go fishing and then there are the days you go catching.
The best was when I won Angler of the Year on the Xtreme Bass Trail in 2008. The lowest was when I lost that really big one, but then again we all have the great fishing tail to pass on.
At this time I have no sponsors but who knows what the future could bring. Every day on the water is like school, learning something, look around, keep a log on your best days as well as your worst, and always learn from whoever you fish with.
