Kathie Phillips has set a few fishing records, and is a woman who believes, whole wholeheartedly, in our environment. Kathie was born in Plainville, CT. Kathie recalls about the age of eight, her brother giving her a hand line, sinker and a hook to fish for Cunners, a local fish in Long Island Sound. Her interest in fishing would sustain her to become Captain Al Phillips fishing partner to this day. Kathie says, that her favorite fishing is in the Florida Keys. Many winters were spent in Marathon Key fishing for Dolphin. Mia Mia the fish is her favorite. On a calm day offshore, large schools of Dolphin create a great fishing adventure. When asked if she thought that fishing was a man's sport, she says not so much anymore, women are even buying their own boats these days. Kathie has won the Ladies Division of The Knights of Columbus Dolphin Tournament of the Middle Keys, three years in a row. As well as finishing 4th this past tournament. Kathie this past year was top female angler in a Central Florida Tournament. Kathie and her husband came in second in a His and Her's Dolphin Tournament in Marathon, Florida, with a 32 lb Bull Dolphin (Male), and a 28LB Cow Dolphin (Female). Her husband says that he gets plenty of excitement from watching Kathie do so well. Living in Central Florida Kathie has done quite well Bass fishing, with her Lunker weighing 8lb 2oz. Kathie who now has a full time residence in Clarksville, VA, looks forward to many new great fishing adventures on Kerr / Buggs Island Lake.
